Peter Wright

Peter has been a squash player and administrator for over 55 years filling prominent roles in the administration and development of squash clubs as well as within Victorian and Australian squash bodies.

Peter currently holds the following positions:

  • President of the Australian Masters Squash association
  • Chairman of VSRA Club Circuit Inc.
  • Chairman of MCC Squash Section

Peter is highly regarded throughout the world squash as an outstanding sporting administrator. More notable achievements include: Championship Director for both the World Championships held in Melbourne in 1995 & 2001, a Committee Member for Squash in the 2005 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and the World Technical Director for Squash in the 2009 World Masters Games in Sydney.

Peter also has won numerous World, Australian, New Zealand, Victorian, Interstate and Club Championship Titles at the highest levels.

Squash has benefited greatly from Peter’s expertise both as an excellent administrator and an outstanding player which is reflected in numerous awards including:

  • Awarded a Jim Lambert Medal in 2015 for services within Club Circuit and squash
  • Order of Australia Medal in 2015 for services to the sport of squash through a range of executive roles
  • Distinguished lifetime Service Award to squash 2015 by Squash Australia
  • Admitted to the Hall of Fame in 2015 for Squash Victoria
  • Hans Ebeling award at the Melbourne Cricket Club for outstanding service for over 25 years in 2010
  • Life Member of the MCC Squash Section 2008
  • Life Member of the Australian Masters Squash Association 2002
  • Winner of Australian Sports Medal for Sports Administration and Achievements in year 2000
